We have been seeing a number of these micro sized mini fridges that hold a few drinks and snacks so you don’t have to run to the kitchen for breaks.
Now everyone has probably seen a small dorm type fridge they even put them in some hotel rooms but these smaller fridges are really only big enough to hold a six pack or a sandwich.
Whats good about them is they can be used during the work day for holding your lunch. If you work in an office where you can eat lunch at your desk then pluging one of these devices in can get you through the day without having to share a community refrigerator where you can never tell if someone is opening your sandwich and licking your lettuce.
At home they are good for the big game they can hold a six pack of SODA and keep it cool enough to drink.
Cooling to about 40F they should be safe enough for some egg salad or other items that need cooling to stay fresh.
Since most of them run on DC they often include a Car Cigarette Lighter power adapter so there is no need to use an extra inverter. Be careful though if you are using it in your car as you may endup draining your battery if you leave it plugged in while not driving. Also if the car is sitting in the sun check it is still cooling to the proper temp.
They cost about or under $50 so it is not a huge expense.
Is it worth getting one of these things?
Yea maybe if you are a hardcore gamer that likes to play WOW all night long or if you drive long distances and want to keep your lunch cool.
It could even be used to hold that quart of ice cream so you can get it back from the store without melting.
The only drawback we have seen is there isn’t a model that runs off a USB port yet :o) heh.
