Because plywood siding is faced nailed it is important that you use a non staining fastener.

Hot dipped galvanized nails are recommended.  Aluminum nails to not have a sufficient strength so they should not be used.  Electroplated nails will eventually lose their protective quality so they are not recommended.

Construction adhesive is also recommended that each joint.  And just like standard plywood studs should be glued prior to nailing.

Plywood siding design features

There are a variety of different styles of plywood siding that you can purchase.  T1 siding is the most common form of plywood siding however if styles in your area differ contact your supplier for additional selections.

Siding can be installed horizontally or vertically in most instances however it will depend on the style you select.

Although plywood siding is not the preferred method of exterior siding it can produce a functional and appealing sheathing for your home.

When selecting plywood siding are traditional products the consideration of long-term costs must be a factor.

This is an excellent product for detached garages or sheds however it’s use a residential construction for living space has a number of drawbacks.
