Installing Vinyl Siding

Finishing the Job

This is pretty much the end of our project and we hope that you will attempt installing your own siding. We took time to cover the application of Tyvek house wrap and in other Howtos we will cover how to install vinyl soffets, howto us a pump jack system and how to apply aluminum flashing . You may also be interested in installing Gutters and Downspouts since you will be working in this area and even if you don’t replace them you should clean and paint them to match your new siding.

All home projects seem to lead to other projects because they are directly related to each other. When you are planing your remodeling projects you should take this in to consideration and decide what is the best overall approach.

If you replace your siding it may be a good time to replace windows and doors but the overall expense of the total exterior upgrade may be more then your budget can afford.

For that reason you should order extra siding and keep it in your basement or other dry place that way if you have time and money later you will also have materials that match.

Having extra material is also good for making repairs but you should understand that as your siding sits in the sun all day its color will change. Rain, dirt and other factors will also change the color and finish of your homes exterior so if you replace a piece of siding you may never get the same match even if it came from the same leftover batch of materials.

If you have damage on the front or a street visible side of your house you might be better off removing a piece of siding from the back of the home and then placing that new or leftover piece in the back of the house where color matching is not as important.
